What's a session like?
We start every session with a short discussion of of your issues and a visual and hands-on assessment. For the postural assessment, I will have you walk for a few minutes and sometimes make other movements to see which areas are not working fluidly. I also place my hands on the body to feel for areas that are tense. This helps us determine what we will work on during that session as well as the approaches to be used. Most of the work is usually on the table but sometimes you may be seated or standing up. You remain clothed during the session either in shorts/a sports top or modest underwear.
what's a visceral/neural manipulation session like?
Both visceral and neural manipulation are done on a table. In contrast to a massage, where you are covered by a sheet, for visceral and neural manipulation you wear light, loose clothes - usually underwear or gym shorts but you can also wear any loose clothes if you prefer.
The session starts with an assessment. We discuss what issues you have had and then, using a visual assessment, feeling for tension, and using some movements that might stress different structures we help locate where restrictions are and what work we need to do.
The work is done primarily on the massage table, but we often do work in the seated position. Generally, the therapist contacts the tissue, they then may move your body in slightly to either put it into ease or a light tension which encourages it to relax on its own.
The pressure is very light. Often people do not feel much happening - the sensations are subtle and easy not to notice. However, because it is so specific it is very powerful.

Answer to question 3
how is rolfing different from massage?
what results can i expect?
Results depend on the issue addressed. You might feel increased range of motion, reduction of pain, or more openness. It might take a day or two, or even longer, to fully feel the results. . Some clients report more pain the night or day after the session, or something off in their stomach/nausea. This reaction usually resolves in 1-2 days.
